There have been plenty of moments throughout movie history that made us believe in love again (2014 was actually a very good year for those romantic film lovers), but for every amazing on-screen kiss there is, there are ones that are seriously not so great. As a matter of fact, some Hollywood kissing scenes are so painfully awkward and uncomfortable, we can’t help but *cringe* every time we see them.
Don’t get us wrong, we totally love every movie that is mentioned on this list, it’s just there’s something wayyy off about these kissing scenes, and we wish they weren’t even included in the flicks in the first place. #SorryNotSorry
1. Harry & Hermione, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 — It may have just been Ron seeing things, but we totes agree that seeing the besties together was indeed one of the most painful things we’ve ever had to endure during the entire Harry Potter movie series.
2.
Harry & Cho, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix — Kissing underneath the mistletoe sounds romantic and all, but the smooch between the hero and his one-time crush was anything but romantic. Even he described it disgustingly, “Wet. I mean, she was sort of crying.”
3.
Jacob & Bella, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse — No, not the kiss Bella punches Jacob for — the other one. Not only was the acting in this scene from
Eclipse super… iffy, but it also felt really forced, and we didn’t like how Bella kept commanding Jacob to stay like he was a dog or something. Hot, shirtless werewolf? Heck yes. Dog? No.
4.
Luke & Leia, Star Wars: Episode V — The Empire Strikes Back — Umm, hel-LO! These two are brother and sister! The only good thing you can say about this kiss is that Luke & Leia touched lips BEFORE they knew they were each other’s sibling. You know what they say, ignorance is bliss.
5.
Casey, Kenny & Rose, We’re the Millers — Nothing like getting a kissing tutorial from your fake sister and fake mom to really get you in the romantic mood. NOT.
6.
Stifler & Jim, American Pie 2 — They were uncomfortable. We were uncomfortable. At least we’re all on the same page.
7.
Kathryn & Cecile, Cruel Intentions — One would think a kiss between
Sarah Michelle Gellar and
Selma Blair would be all sorts of hot. However, the saliva string at the very end is the ultimate cringe.
8.
Catherine & Sadie, Not Another Teen Movie — Based on the
Cruel Intentions kiss, but FAR WORSE. This is proof that kissing old ladies who aren’t your grandmother is always, always,
always the most awk-sauce thing ever. The end of this scene just makes us want to vomit.
9.
Cathy & Christopher, Flowers in the Attic — What’s awkward (and completely disturbing) about this on-screen kiss is that these two lovebirds are brother & sister and, unlike Luke and Leia from Star Wars, they knew very well that they were related when they first kissed. This is some effed up stuff, right here!
10.
Ron & Veronica from Anchorman — There are two things that make this kissing scene super awk. 1. Ron Burgundy’s stupid pick-up lines, and 2. the incredibly cheesy background music.
11.
Damian & Janis, Mean Girls — We’re glad these two realized how weird them kissing each other was, because it def made for one of the more hilariously awkward scenes throughout the entirety of
Mean Girls.
